This collection of selected stories is from the author of the short story ‘In Another Country’, which inspired the Oscar/Academy Award nominated film #45Years.
The stories of David Constantine are unlike any others. His characters

I ordered this book after viewing the movie "45 Years" as I'm sure other readers did. I was eager to read the original story to see if it answered questions. Not many questions were answered, but that's okay. Short stories are just that: brief, with much left to the imagination. The narrator, however, did express much more than the character of Mr. Mercer than portrayed in the film version. Mrs. Mercer could be another story. I will read more of Constantine's stories in this volume since I found his writing moving and choice of words and phrasing rewarding to the intellect.Product details

His writing illustrates his poetic talent, and his stories are all adventures. The stories are sometimes sad because the lives are sad but the insights in how the characters think are incredible and his love of nature poetically shown. The characters often take each other on adventurous walks into extraordinary places.

Absolutely gorgeous writing. Best book I have read in years.
Title story is the basis for the brilliant film, 45 Years -- an unlikely source because of the story's concision and trust in the reader's attention to detail. Constantine is a poet, and it shows in the precision of his language. He's also a brilliant short story writer.
Excellent emotion word pictures. So many people brought to life on so few pages. Really an artist.
